The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported a 45% increase in losses related to crypto fraud in 2023. The agency's complaint center received more than 69,000 complaints related to cryptocurrencies, which resulted in losses of $5.6 billion, the agency said in its annual report. This is 10% of the total number of complaints. People over 60 years of age were the most likely to be defrauded, and the nature of the fraud was related to investments.
