At the risk of sounding silly, what does a testnet hub do? Like why should I set up a hub?

Hubs sync the state of the protocol, similar to a blockchain node. advantage seems to be that you can directly query a hub for info about users & casts, instead of relying on a centralized service provider's API. good for developers, but not necessary for users
