How do you decide which chain to build on?

Base is definitely the "go-to" nowadays, but why? It's not TVL because Arbitrum has a lot more and Base was the preferred long before it got to #2 in TVL. Users? Maybe but I don't see many solid stats backing that.

From my POV, it feels like its just vibes? But why? Doesn't it make more sense to do a thoughtful analysis of which chain is ideal for an app's needs?

we’re prioritizing base bc they’ve prioritized builders, bc they’ve leaned into fc and we’re tapping the fc social graph, and bc we believe they’ll have incentive to drive their exchange users to base first and foremost

it’s likely just more noticeable bc they’re great at marketing it

i’m sure other chains do this too, base makes it more welcoming bc of their active approach here, at least in my eyes

When you say "they've prioritized builders", what do you mean? Are there specific examples of them doing more for builders than others?
