While meditating this morning I was reminded that Miami Beach is man made

Theirs regular weekly maintenance and then bigger jobs like this seemingly every month or two. 

The waves push the sand back to the shore and creates a steep slope when entering the water which is what they’re trying to flatten in these pictures

How often do work crews replace the sand there?

Some parts of the beach do use big rocks to help maintain the shoreline but they’re less swimmer friendly

the second picture has a crab or shellfish feel with those headlights

thanks for sharing, I have never seen this before. 
I would assume putting something larger, like big flat rocks, under the drop off to stack the sand onto of would make this job less cyclical — but I imagine either way it will be a recurring job

Every meditation I learn something new, usually internal. But this morning it was when I felt the beach start shaking 🫨

damn... what a crazy realization during a meditation. here for all of them.

Crazy enough they built parts of Miami Beach with 2 elephants back in the 1920’s when first terraforming the area.

Seems they likely weren’t considering the implications 100 years later

It’s insane how much money some of these beaches cost per year, millions and millions. Many factors involved (harbors changing shore currents, lack of sediments bcs dams, storms,…) but mainly it’s due to poor planning on where to build them 🥲
