Generative art isn't an aesthetic

It isn't only randomly deterministic 

It isn't just “long-form” or “artist curated” 

Generative art: uses autonomous system(s) outside of the artist's control

And in a digital context, we're barely at the beginning of where it's going

Except that many artists will argue about the autonomous system bit. They’re stochastic, not autonomous.

Love this notion, the idea of generative art having to fit into a box just means we that much more exploring yet to do!
