There are many ways that people try to pretend to be smarter than they actually are. 3 of them that I've noticed: - Using "complicated" language for something simple - Imitating specific smart people gestures/ways - Associating themselves with other "high status" people

girard would argue that that’s just mimetics, something we all do the rise of influencers came out of our desire to dress or look like ppl we admire eg zero to one being in every sf bro’s apartment is how we signal what we care about & who we are 🙃 gestures, language just shows what group ppl aspire to be par
