agree about there being room to learn from more interesting approaches at the same time, decentralization inherently breeds interesting comparisons for the fun of it (not commenting on usefulness of the comparison). For instance, both groups have similar-ish end goals, but the process by which we reach eventual consistency (even when building processes) is fun to explore. I see this comparison kind of like comparing between Raft vs Paxos consensus algos — a theoretical exploration and critique that possibly has something to learn from, but might not!

hah! yes, interesting point. on the spectrum of decentralized to centralized, where “sufficiently” decentralized falls somewhere in the middle, how would you rank and then contrast the two approaches?
