It feels like these days when open source software devs make software with UIs *that runs locally*, a lot of the time the UI is built *as a webpage* and you access it by going to localhost:3030

Yep, why not just make it be a webpage instead of running it local if you’re not going to take advantage of benefits of a local UI. Building it this way, you still have the constraints of amount of data and need for call backs, just closer, building a real local UI adds so much more power.
