putting your Noun into $nouns is not the same as a minority protection design. Minority protection involved making a majority attack less lucrative by making funds unavailable to the attacker. No secondary market solves such attacks, and $nouns is just a specific kind of secondary market :)

Auction rate makes it hard to do quickly Secondary still has no streams Down the line secondary might have nouns with streams. Are you predicting they'll be much cheaper somehow?

Prop 708 (auction streams) is serving as a forcing function for the DAO to discuss whether it needs/wants minority protection at all. Any kind of minority protection design will have some downsides, and will introduce some liquidity uncertainty (because that's the point in a malicious majority scenario). For anyone who sees value in minority protection, and in the mechanism being DUNA-compliant, this proposal should make sense and be net positive. For those who don't share this view, makes sense to be against.

Hard to answer in one sentence :) Need to decide on the spec, examples: 1. Vote via the token contract; use existing gov features, so it's winner takes all (all Nouns in it will vote the same way) 2. Upgrade the DAO to support vote split; castVote has a new param that says how to split your votes, $nouns uses that

It's like "make it as high as you can while maintaining minority protection"

Primarily that the parameter needed to be set high enough, to avoid it being used for individual exit, rather only for a group spinning up an alternative DAO.

The Nouns Foundation has posted a candidate proposal: “Establish Nouns DUNA in Wyoming and fund first year of operations” https://www.nouns.camp/candidates/0x37b8e20646d174b00198b7e183dd1f25520c0f60-establish-nouns-duna-in-wyoming-and-fund-first-year-of-operations

discourse around DUNA seems to be focused around the downsides (added KYC requirement to grantees) imo DUNA's massive upsides are: - reducing tax risk - providing limited legal liability to members while still allowing: - members to remain anonymous (privacy) - explicit voting rights to members if there are other avenues to achieve the above without any compromises then that would be wonderful, but as far as i know at the moment DUNA is unique in offering the above properties with limited compromises (paying taxes in the US, KYC req for grantees). more thoughts continued 👇
