I was going to post this in /warpcast but the new channels system means I can't. So here it is: the new channels system is quite possibly one of the worst designed, exclusionary systems I have ever seen not only on any social platform, but on any platform in all of existence. I am saying this without hyperbole. I've had the pleasure of getting to work on & with a lot of social platforms through my time in enterprise dev, before going full degen in the crypto world. I've seen a lot of bad systems, but honestly, this one is just.. really out there. Exclusionary-by-default is not how to grow a young social network. And don't come at me with the "just use a different client" shtick. It's natural to get attached to a client/platform you've used for months, and feel dismay when there's a pattern of changes being made which detract from the whole reason you fell in love with it. I can't even imagine the thought process behind this one. It is absolutely baffling. Feels like a ghost town since it was implemented.

feel like an abandoned mine here now. Seeing way less engagement, accounts booted from channels they were huge contributors to, and very little in the way of user feedback integration. I think overall aesthetics are better but the issues we all feared with inclusivity/engagement have been borne out.

The channels and the hard parameter of the shadow badge. Thank you for sharing the part it’s completely normal to become attached to something you’ve been using. As a skateboarder, I can no longer post videos, which is something I loved to share and even did a 30 day 1 clip a day for the month of May. It’s tough, but like everyone has said to me. Just keep showing up. We are still here because of the people not the devs.

The vibes have changed a lot since these changes have been made — I also agree with "ghost town" And imagine how harder it's gonna be for the newcomers Not only do they have to learn about all the new rules and complexities (like the difference between following a channel and being a member), but it will be more difficult for them to be seen than before

Ignoring spam and abusive users is one of my superpowers, so I didn't see the need for a drastic change. Having said that, I hate the change. Less engagement and having to beg to get into channels, which I refuse to do.

Isn’t discord and telegram exclusionary by default? I see these changes as making Warpcast more of an onchain communication channel than a social network.
