French actor Niels Arestrup has died at the age of 75 at his home in the suburbs of Paris. This was reported to Agence France-Presse (AFP) by his wife and a spokeswoman.

According to them, the artist passed away surrounded by relatives. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Arestrup is known for his roles in the films "Dune" (2013), "My Heart Stopped Beating" (2005), "War Horse" (2011), "Her name is Sarah" (2010), "The Spacesuit and the Butterfly" (2007), "Van Gogh. On the Threshold of Eternity" (2018) and others.

Arestrup has twice received the Cesar Award from the French Academy of Arts and Technology of Cinematography.
