gm  gm, random question. Maybe this is just a me-issue, but whenever I right-click on desktop to save a photo, like I did with this one, on warpcast, windows 11 wants to save it as an .avif file and if I try and change the extension to .jpg or .png it breaks the file? can you explain computing to me right now please?

I was trying to change it from .avif to file type all files and then just add .jpg at the end of the filename and it was breaking it earlier I swear but just now I did it and it's working and saved as a .jpg. avif and jpg sizes are both 73.4kb. my phone downloads files in .jpg or .png not .avif so I don't get it. everything I swear used to download as anything other than dumb .avif years ago.

So I get the same on warpcast and on some spots on the internet (search results etc) but usually the extension change works for me

How are you trying to change them?

Also I think the brief explanation is that most of the high utilization display internet is trying to use more efficient image types but most of the upload interfaces can’t handle these new efficient image types yet
