Alcohol and offspring The study (PMID: 38044754, published in the journal Andrology) showed that even moderate alcohol consumption by men can negatively affect sperm quality, and these changes persist longer than previously thought — up to 3 months or more. alcohol → oxidative stress in the liver → systemic signal to the male body → epigenetic and biochemical changes in spermatogenesis These changes are interpreted by the body as "living in a stressful environment," and spermatozoa are "reprogrammed" to pass on adaptive mechanisms to offspring. These changes are harmful, not beneficial, and they lead to cognitive and behavioral impairments in children. Spermatogenesis lasts approximately 64-74 days, that is, almost 3 months. Even if a man stops drinking a month before conception, there may be spermatozoa in his seminal fluid that were formed during regular alcohol consumption. Men should completely abstain from alcohol 3 months before the planned conception.

Daytime sleep Is there any benefit from daytime sleep? An interesting article was published in Sleep Health magazine in 2023: "Is there an association between daytime napping, cognitive function, and brain volume? A Mendelian randomization study in the UK Biobank Valentina Paz et al. Sleep Health. 2023 Oct." Sample: 378,932 participants Method: Genetic analysis of daytime sleep habits and neuroimaging data Results People who regularly sleep during the day have a larger total brain volume. Such sleep promotes cognitive resistance to age-related decline in function. Regular daytime sleep is associated with a slowdown in brain aging by 2.6–6.5 years. Genetic analysis has shown that daytime sleep habits correlate with a 15.8 cm3 increase in total brain volume, which is associated with a lower age-related decrease in brain volume and neuroprotection.

Infant pheromones act through the olfactory bulb, activating the limbic system of the brain, the same area responsible for emotions, attachment, and motivation. Unlike adult sexual pheromones, they do not cause arousal, but direct behavior towards caring and protection. Lactone cis-6-dodecene-4-olide This substance is found in the skin secretions of infants and in breast milk. It enhances attachment and maternal instincts, as well as suppresses stress reactions. Olamide It is a lipid compound found in the biological fluids of infants, including sweat and skin secretions. It has a calming and hypnotic effect, helping parents to adapt more easily to child care. Pheromone related to lactation Certain volatile compounds released by the baby's skin stimulate the production of prolactin in the mother, enhancing lactation. This is one of the mechanisms explaining why the smell of your own baby helps a nursing mother to maintain sufficient milk. A.Dzidzaria

Coffee and tea: do they prolong life? A literature review of 71 articles showed that moderate consumption of coffee and tea can be beneficial. 🔬 results: ✅ -19% risk of stroke - 3-5 cups of coffee a day reduce the likelihood of stroke. ✅ -6% risk of arrhythmia⚡️ - 300 mg of caffeine per day (approximately 3 cups) reduces the risk of atrial fibrillation. ✅ -11% risk of heart failure❤️ – 4 cups of coffee a day are associated with a reduced likelihood of heart failure. ✅ -12% risk of coronary heart disease - coffee improves vascular function, reducing the risk of coronary heart disease. ✅ -24% of deaths from all causes – moderate consumption (3-5 cups of coffee or 3 cups of green tea) is associated with a marked reduction in the risk of premature death. Conclusion:Moderate consumption of coffee and tea is not only safe, but can also be part of a longevity strategy. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1050173821000888?via%3Dihub

Morning erections: Why they are important and what they say about your health Nocturnal penile tumescence occurs during REM sleep. During this period, the activity of the nervous system increases, which causes blood flow to the genitals. This process occurs regardless of thoughts, fantasies, or stimulation. This is a natural mechanism built into the male body. What do they depend on? - Morning erections indicate that the blood circulation is working normally. - Testosterone levels reach their peak in the morning. Regular morning erections can be a marker of normal levels of this hormone. - Their presence indicates the normal functioning of the nervous system. If erections disappear, this may be due not only to physical, but also to psychological factors: stress, depression, and chronic fatigue. If morning erections have disappeared or become rare, this is not a reason to panic, but a signal that you should listen to your body.
