The more insidious effect of RSD is *anticipating* rejection so much that you end up not doing really simple things--like asking for a favor (or just asking for things more generally). If you're a founder--meaning you need to ask for things frequently--you can imagine how RSD complicates things.

It's crazy because I know it's normal to ask for things. And I won't certainly get things without asking for them (something something if you don't ask, the answer is always no). Sadly, my brain hasn't registered that information yet--so here we are. Slowly getting better at it, though.

Takes so much time and effort to work through. It's like things get worse before they get better as you become more aware of it. Going from avoiding asking for things to knowing that is silly and expending so much mental energy just to ask (or almost ask) for anything.
