FIP-10: Gateway Migration

FIP-10 is a series of improvements to make it easier to read from contracts. A few folks had rented thousands of FIDS without storage, made devs create all these rows.

Re-thought event strategy with two rule changes:
- Impt events will have limits(FIDs require storage, limit of 1k signers/user)
- Not showing the entire event state for FID transfers

Farcaster Hubs Update, v 1.8

Mainly just FIP-10 and a few other small changes-- will be released 11/15

Replicator Issues:

Didn't get to as much yet because of FIP-10 work, but make sure to flag any other replicator issues on GitHub

Farcaster Connect cc @horsefacts.eth 

Has been a little back-burner because of FIP-10, but the next components would be modules in `hub-js` to handle verification of sign in(using the FIP-11 spec -- SIWE message with some extra attributes to specify the FID of the user and certain Farcaster resources)

Farcaster Connect cont'd

Have had issues with folks using protocol handlers on Android, so might use something like a stateful sync channel instead

Want to push the first methods to `hub-js` first so Farcaster Connect messages can be verified

Not a very clear timeline right now, still prototyping(espc the handlers)

now to the @warpcast side -- Warpcast Passkeys on Web cc @cassie 

Web passkeys coming soon -- easier on web bc/ less overhead(no Apple APIs to work with)

One caveat: Passkey largeBlob is *not* supported on any version of Firefox

Will give multi-account, and can be on a diff account on web than on mobile 🔥

could even ship this week/early next week! 

Sets Warpcast up for new features such as sign up via web and direct casts via web

Warps

Two ongoing experiments:
-  give them to users posting the most engaging/interesting casts, will continue if it goes well
- sending warps to folks who sent quality invites

Lets you connect to apps without paying onchain fees, have seen from data other apps being used

Also want to think of other ways to use Warps to benefit the ecosystem

Have a new feature on ways to use Warps, will ship that later or tomorrow(no other details yet 👀)

The point of using Warps is *not* to hold on to them and will never become(hey you held Warps so now you get xyz), it's just to help better incentivize taking actions on the protocol

Thinking of it as credit card reward points -- stuff to get little utilities in the app, giving that to people to keep driving that

^The team explicitly states that there will be no way for Warps to become a token or decentralized, this will only be used in Warpcast

They wanna do something App Store compliant to do something onchain -> you don't have to have crypto to do cool things onchain in crypto

Same reason for passkeys and IAPs

Question from @manan about embedding casts in another casts -- would be great to move embeds from cast links farcaster:// URI links

A key pain point here is devs having to take the first six chars of the hash from the Warpcast link and having to look it up, hurts optimization and makes things like caching harder

Question from @woj.eth -- will there be an API to see cast views outside of Warpcast?

@v says there aren't immediate plans to do so at the moment. Have considered this, but trying to get to a global state of views across clients is going to be very messy/gamable/unstable, and so won't be useful for many things

Question from @billzh -- any timeline on an API for channel follower data?

Still treating channels as an experiment in Warpcast to make sure they're dialed in on the right feature. Over 60% of casts are in channels but the surface area of features might change a lot over the next month or two

TLDR; before the data goes to the protocol, they want to be ~95% confident that they won't change the way channels show for the next year

The good news is it's fairly easy to publish channel follows afterwards, can use the follow/reaction types for this

@dwr.eth on two reasons why views can be helpful:
- Show why it makes more sense to post in channels
- Gives folks another reason to post here(eg on Twitter you can see your distribution)

There are a lot of people trying to build an audience, want them to have data -- and specifically around channels
