Maybe, but this seems like a long period if so: mercantilism, democratization, publishing, etc. Maybe we’ll head towards some oneness crap as we become less biological or the computers turn us into naval gazers.

Maybe it depends on which areas we talk about. Governments will cycle through centralization / decentralization. Information only seems to be going one way, in that it wants to be free and, in order to do that, it moves one-directionally towards decentralization.
