Don’t think the headline is representative. I’ve read that lots of firms have broken ground on new developments because this guarantees them funding, even though these grants wouldn’t be finalised. Probably adds up to low billions, and give the inflation landscape, I don’t think this is far from optimal

that seems like a bit of a straw man argument, success of government funds is percentage wise is may be the same as success of start ups ? In the case of Tesla, Idk about government loans but CARB regulation and Mary Nichols played a big role in creating a market for Tesla which does not take anything away from Elon but would be a one sided picture otherwise https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_D._Nichols
