1/ On Farcaster growing and "changing" When we talk to developers, the number one thing they want is retained user growth. When we talk to early users, they don't want to lose the cozy feel of the network when it had fewer than <10K users.

2/ The goal is build a protocol that one day has 1 billion DAU. That requires developers to build dozens if not hundreds of interesting apps and services. We need to solve the existential problem (user growth) or this ends up as a science experiment. But the beautiful thing about a permissionless protocol...

change is good, although sometimes hard, and i also think there is individual responsibility to create and curate the experience that individual wants on farcaster — and a strong app ecosystem gives us the optionality to do that. also I LOVE FARCASTER

Did y’all really think a16z was gonna pay @dwr.eth to moderate a cozy purple telegram channel?

As a user I actually want more users... As long as the algo does it's magic and I'm not bombarded with non-relevant casts, I'm happy!

Obiously you need growth, which equals content and engagement. But I hope it is not at the cost of decentralization and privacy. Winds are shifting, and there is a demand for warpcast. Most of us resent being products.

the changes that come with growth are necessary for Farcaster to be sustainable (which is something i very much want) however it's best to dispense with the delulu that the kind of intimacy that exists/existed here is possible at scale which i think is mostly what the 'farcaster used to be different' ppl are saying

I love it here. I’ve had so many authentic interactions in less than a month, excited for there to be more Castizens in the mix, bringing diversity of perspective. The only piece I would add - let users easily make channels! tight-knit subcommunities = OGs happy & newbs can more easily “find their tribe”.

ie a seminal moment was when Lior the cringe rationalist guy built a bot to xpost every FC cast on Twitter because a private-ish social network was some horrible affront (also sort of what Taylor Lorenz' crusade against Clubhouse was)

I feel like we need more engagement. Sometimes posts that are great in a channel that seems poppin - don’t do any numbys. What’s the best way to massage the algo?
