A lot of chatter recently about Farcaster, marketing and expanding beyond crypto I have yet to see a crisp definition of: 1. What problem does Farcaster solve for people outside of crypto today? 2. What evidence exists that existing at-scale free social networks and paid creator tools / platforms are insufficient in serving these people? 3. Assuming this population exists, what channel (i.e. tactics) do you market Farcaster to said people? I'm not asking for free work, fwiw. It's our job to figure to this out (we don't have an answer for this question ourselves). But hiring a "marketing team" when you don't have an answer to this question is not going to solve the problem. Marketing works great when you have a clear value prop and target market and channel.

I agree w.r.t. a marketing team. Paying for users before PMF is a road to nowhere. But is the implied assumption here that farcaster's best channel to grow is through crypto? I don't agree with that at all tbh. If anything, I want to see way less "crypto content" and way fewer "crypto ppl" as a percentage of overall content/users. I don't like that it's all crypto, all the time here, and anyone in my social circle that I invite would say the same. And to be honest, that has kept me from inviting many of the ppl that I know would enjoy FC otherwise.

Have you tried the onboarding flow recently? What % of casts are crypto posts if you don't select Ethereum as an onboarding interest. The issue is overall supply of interesting and entertaining content. If we can 10x that, may be enough to keep people around. Revealed preference is people want infinite scroll (why Twitter For You, TikTok, IG Reels do so well metrics wise).

Can you say more about what the team is focused on that will 10x the supply of interesting and entertaining content? Frames and actions are good ideas, but your team allowed memecoins to proliferate on the platform, knowing the type of users this would attract. You even claimed that /degen was one of the best channels on Farcaster while users like myself were taking a stand against the spam and farming that was coming from there

Tbh, people only care what matters to them, "what's in it for me". If you tell people come and join FC but they're not going to get any rewards, be it financial ones like airdrops or alphas, or emotional ones like sense of achievement like a PB or easier to be seen as compared to X/other social networks, then people will stay in their comfort zone and not spending more time here. I was persuading a few PE/VC frens I made yesterday to join me on Warpcast and the 1st thing they asked me is what kind of information they can get here as compared to X/LinkedIn/FB, I told them many big accounts on X are here too so let's see if they take the plunge to explore FC with the beginner's guide I shared with them or not instead of paying X to keep their blue ticks...
