imo, early stage startups should send succinct investor updates. Feels like most either send updates that are too long (with too much formatting) or don't send them at all. If you assume the person reading the update has 30 seconds and is reading on their phone waiting in line for coffee, you realize that it needs to be short and have minimal formatting.

Tend to agree about brevity, but would say visuals help with that too. Particularly when you review updates from many different companies and need to reset historical context to one quickly.

Seems like a format one could use for sending weekly status.

This is a great rec. doing consistent investor updates has paid off hugely for us at Transpose - we get lots of engagement on them now that we’ve built a rep. This template hits all the important points and cuts the fluff.

Honestly also a good way to measure progress on a weekly/daily basis too

Nice template, like the shout-out section. When a few months ago, I decided to spend more time on web3, I started sending investors updates to myself to keep myself focused. Only I read them ofc, but writing updates helps to get a big picture :)

FWIW I would suggest one small-in-length but high impact addition. Add one quote, nugget, or story to the shoutout section. Except flip the script and let others do the shouting out for the company/product. Stories resonate and are remembered when stats are not and convey momentum better when they come from others.

It’s true but goes against your natural instinct. Less might be more but sometimes you feel a need to show how quickly you’re moving or how hard you’re working thus the need for detailed memos.
