Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and now Telegram. Centralized web2 apps will be arbitrary and capricious with their APIs.

I watched Google pull APIs, Twitter lock theirs down, and Reddit close it all as they got close to IPO. Every Web2 company will be closed even if they start as “open” and developer friendly. It’s why I’m so excited about Farcaster’s potential. I’ve watched product after product be built here and I can’t wait to see what folks build next.

I'm curious how it will play out with BlueSky -- to what extend will the AT Protocol prevent this scenario when the pressure to monetize builds.

"Absolutely true. The centralized nature of Web2 apps often leads to unpredictable API changes. Decentralized alternatives are looking more appealing by the day for building something resilient and user-first."
