Only way to "beat" Twitter is play a different game. New composable primitives powered by crypto (which make it harder for incumbents to copy). Channels that enable cozy corners yet are public, permissionless and composable.

thinking out-loud here: people post on X because they know they will get more eyeballs people won't move from X until quality of eyeballs matters right now it doesn't bc there's no good way to determine quality of eyeballs maybe social scores will be the element that moves marketers to identify quality and then pressure influencers to care about them from there they can see that 1k likes on FC is worth more than 15k likes on X

No doubt X is the king in attention/DAUs. Legacy social media is built to maximize attention above all else (at the price of greater social polarization, extremism, crisis of trust in media and institutions, etc.). We can play a much better game and align economic incentives with quality content (and beyond) instead of just engagement.

Not denying the what twitter is or the how to beat it. Just thinking through how you might empirically measure to find a leading indicator. Cozy corners and crypto primitives are the what. The why is quality discussions. A level deeper might be new insights or new bonds. Which is why the url to irl pipeline is so powerful.

Breaking news is something I’d love to see happen on Farcaster. Twitter is a better place for breaking news because of the number of eyeballs, but maybe Farcaster can leverage the anonymity and censorship resistance card for some cases.

Yes, I think Forcaster can soon be the second Twitter or even better than Twitter, it is true that there are still bugs in farcaster, but new things are added to it day by day and it is improving. Personally, I've been using farcaster for about two months now, and I've been doing most of the activity on social networks, and I hope it gets better day by day.

on Twitter, there are not so many advantages of the blue tick, but here the badge of power simply destroys ordinary users, driving them into the shadow, a simple example, my post published 30 seconds ago, a few posts below the post published 5 minutes ago with the badge of power, or just an old post with a badge rises above your post, blocking you. as for the feed, I don't even see many posts from my friends, just people I don't know with badges of power, whom I don't even read, there is no such thing on Twitter, and this makes them better )

Totally agree, Dan! Twitter sets the whole conversation agenda for social media. Those "secret" groups are basically just glorified tweet reactions half the time. We definitely need a new approach. Maybe crypto can be the key to unlocking a platform that's both open and allows for smaller, more intimate discussions. Like little, public living rooms for specific topics.

I can see a bright and perfect future for warpcast as a web3 twitter like app but main problem is that basically people are posting none genuine and AI generated image with out any meaning toooooo much ! even if the content that they post was meaningful it was perfect also reaction storages are filling too fast😂 😂 almost filled my 3rd one while cast and follows are not even close to filling up
