Small improvement on Warpcast

When you link to X posts (née tweets), we made the embed look a bit more like native quote cast, i.e. easier to read.

New experiment on Warpcast

For a small group of users, we're starting to generate in-app and push notifications for X mentions.

i.e. when you link to a tweet and the user is on Farcaster and we've manually mapped X <> FC, that user gets a notification similar to a quote cast.

If the the experiment is successful, we will likely roll out a way for anyone to opt-in to linking their X <> FC accounts to get similar notifications.

(This is why I've been casting links to tweets more recently — testing out the feature.)

Who is the test group?
We based on previously shared X/Twitter URLs on Farcaster plus users we had an easily accessible mapping for. We also mapped a few users GitHub accounts.

Why can't I opt-in to this now?
It was <1 day of work to do the simple version of the experiment vs. a few days to make work properly for everyone, building a UI, etc.

Why did you build this?
The goal is let people who are already on Farcaster know that people are talking about their X content on Farcaster. Thoughtful conversation is the best way to showcase why it's worth spending time on Farcaster.

Regarding this update, does it interact "X to FC" or "FC to X" as indicated by the "<>" symbols?

They aren't on the protocol right now, just the Warpcast backend. If it's a fully implemented feature, we'd consider adding those verifications to the protocol.

Liberal humanism - our politicians, businessmen, philosophers - have not taken into account the presence of beings higher than humans in their calculations and decisions for many generations. It is impossible to even imagine how devastating it can be for our proud and anthropocentric societies to have an ASI that is smarter than us in every respect...

I guess our secular communities will then discover that they can learn something from believers. Maybe some equivalents of religious faith and lifestyle - such as humility achieved through asceticism and rituals - will help find meaning in this strange world that will no longer belong to us.
