Why is Midjourney so much better than all the other generative image AIs?

Don’t know any non public info but they have been tinkering with architectures a lot and David (the founder) probably have good taste for picking data sets + have passion to do the tedious work.

I've been using Mid V4 and V5 extensively and I also tried stable diffusion with control net and a bunch of models. I think both can do great and different things. For example I'd use SD if I have to design a series of medieval items with a specific shape etc.. But in term of experience Midjourney is way more pleasant.

Seems much more opinionated about the results which is probably why they have a distinctive style/cohesion. On average probably better for the normal user but worse for someone who can really wrangle SD for example

Seriously though it’s somehow completely qualitative yet fully night and day difference

Midjourney has a more defined style in comparison to dall-e or base stable diffusion models. I would lean towards using a mixture and collage when making thought-provoking art. If someone is after a single shot piece of art then midjourney does a very good job.
