We’re working on a major overhaul for channels that doesn’t require a bunch of negative moderation from hosts. Goal is to make a host’s job about highlighting great content. Will also make it more feasible to decentralize channels sooner.

I wish more social networks used a mempool approach, hoping that's what you landed on!

Nice! Channels have always been the “killer app” for me (more than frames or GCs), so I’m glad you’re back to polishing them

I think since the beginning it should have been like channel creation ideas not literally owning the channel, I'm not against moderation because I see lots of spams but it seems some users got some complaints about mod's personal preference on the contents which is not so good

Are you thinking of doing spam detection and removal at the protocol level? /xmtp had this proposal recently for a similar problem: https://community.xmtp.org/t/xip-42-universal-allow-and-block-preferences/544

The problem is in that situation it becomes about who the mods “like” and don’t like Even when a mod doesn’t like someone, it’s almost never deep enough to stop someone’s posts from trending or similar However, when he doesn’t like someone, he will not do something that boosts it either

While I see the point, have to say that as a non spamming/endemic F4F user, what happens currently is that only those who have spammed enough to gain a lot of followers (although not interested in each other's content) get interactions, not good for the variety of content. Will that not keep penalising normal users?

So a “token gated system based on community a moderated system of renewal” could be feasible? Or similar to what I mentioned a month or so ago?
