Priority ordering of replies on cast pages

We're now sorting replies by relevance to the original cast's author.

1. If the author replies to the reply
2. If the author likes the reply
3. If the author follows the user replying
4. Replies from users with the power badge
5. Everything else

Ordering is now based on what you engage with and your own social graph (revealed preference).

Don't like something? Don't engage or unfollow!

Here's an example from earlier today: You can see that the first two replies are from people I am not following, but I replied to. Those now appear ahead of a cast I liked.

I just think it looks bad. Warpcast team can’t figure out how to reward users so we are allowing speculative memecoins to proliferate and dominate the protocol. People like degen because it’s free money. If the community cared, they’d build their own client, as you’ve been suggesting.

There are plenty of people that like degen replies?

Our next change may solve this in a clever enough way.

Have you considered hiding all $degen replies on Warpcast? They would still be available at the protocol level so the degen devs can read and register the tips correctly.

I understand bots are rampant everywhere, but as you can probably see,  this type of coding usually results in contrary or low effort engagement farming.  I say all this w/ love & sincere intentions btw 🫂

Within each bucket. Ultimately a reply from the author is more valuable signal to a conversation vs. the most liked reply that the author didn't engage with.

Is an overall number of likes still a strong factor for sorting?

Very cool, are there places I can read about how the general algorithm works @dwr ?

Having clarity around this helps vs the black box of say, Google's SEO algo. I imagine there are people hungrily figuring out how to game this, but I think letting it air dry will help something closer to a meritocracy come out of this.

A smaller UI for replies to comments, perhaps not showing the entire reply, with a ‘see more’, could help

But I think the change as is, is still net good

This seems wonderful 
One thing to bear in mind: just because the OP replies to a comment is high signal for that comment, doesn’t mean I want to see the reply

There is a risk that the comments become harder to read because the top comments all have a reply underneath, which could easily be low effort
