Why are Farcaster builders so optimistic when X, Y, and Z bad things exist? My brother, bad is the default. It’s entropy. Failure is the most likely outcome when building something new. If you’re not a definite optimist, you’ve got no chance in making it happen. Even if you’re a rational person, you have to be willing to suspend belief just enough to make the bet despite all the bad. And then it’s just week of week progress and try not to die (mostly figuratively). For years.

whats also good about farcaster is that most builders build in public it definitely gives us the benefit of learning from the mistakes and successes of other people which is positive sum

Crypto founders community is generally very optimistic You have to, if you decide to bet your career on building an alternative to Big Finance and Big Tech. I often forget about it until I speak with my non-crypto founders friends who work on some boring B2B SaaS because "there's no way to compete with Big Tech".

this is a fantastic analysis, maybe that's why this group is seemingly so optimistic. If I were to choose two adjectives to describe Farcasters it would be curious and optimistic. That is a very powerful combo.

This chart should /not/ be defining for an individual, but situational instead. I could see someone having indefinite pessimism about a single topic, but be generally optimistic person. Builders need to have optimism. Otherwise, they will have no drive to continue their project. They should also have people who are optimistic helping them. However, Builders also need pessimism around them. Insight can be gained or even ego stroked to help fuel. Pessimism may also bring to light challenges and blind spots.

One of the main reasons i'm optimistic about farcaster is the folks here. I said it when I started 3 months ago. there is a huge positive energy here. Even tho I ask a lot of questions because I don't know anything in coding or crypto I mainly cast filmmaking/ art / memes / random ideas! But they are willing to reply and give me answers for my questions. So positivity is what made me stay here till now.

Being optimistic and able to quickly pivot is the key to success imo. I’m a scientist irl and I follow the science, it never works how you expect it but what makes a good scientist is the ability to pivot and keep moving forward.
