Update on channels 1. It's not a top priority right now 2. Channels are not expiring; if we end up moving forward with an expiration, we will give advanced notice; consider it an indefinite grace period 3. When it becomes a priority, we will resolve abandoned and squatted channels as part of the expiration; we will likely decentralize channel creation at that point — however, only when a top priority 4. What's higher priority than channels? a. Continue to improve frames UX, especially with regard to onchain interactions b. Improve discovery across Farcaster for anyone building / creating something onchain c. Snapchain — need to scale the underlying protocol d. Cheaper sign ups — top request from several existing apps with large user bases considering integrating with Farcaster e. Migrating Sign in with Farcaster to Farcaster Connect (see FIP) to allow other clients to provide auth for apps / frames f. Rewards and onboarding improvements around invites

5. Why aren't channels more of a priority? Our sense is channels work when Farcaster itself is growing, i.e. channels are not a growth driver for Farcaster, more a feature / tool for deepening engagement

Just to confirm, when you say that channels don’t expire (for now), you mean that hosts won’t have to pay 2500 warps again for each channel they run? If so, that’s great news. Still have lots of plans for my channels but was dreading having to decide which ones to drop for affordability

OK update but I wish you could share more details as to why. For example, why is channels de-prioritize. Is it because roadmap is done or because there’s no product-market fit? Why emphasis on discovery? What are the KPI’s you’re trying to hit. Etc.

if channels go away, a) how do you curate casts that are specifically targeted at one aligned community b) where would you put an effort to build a community, if not for a channel, and more importantly, why would you put an effort again c) how do you make announcements about your product, memecoin, et al d) how do you figure out if a "concept" is catching up without having a dedicated channel e) why would you kill a feature that is meant to deliver deep engagement within an existing community

Discovery of projects on Farcaster specifically will be great, a hub for discovery of projects onchain in general is even better. I could see that being a big draw.
