A bit puzzled by the people who continue to insist that open channels without any gating or spam filtering would work just fine. When I mention there would be a lot of spam, they tell me I'm wrong or they would manually weed it out. We tried that for the last year and it didn't work. Very few channel owners / moderators wanted to do the drudgery of cleaning up spammy casts. It's not fun or rewarding. And that's logical on their end! The reason web2 doesn't have this problem: 1. The successful companies like Meta or YouTube have *10s of thousands* of ops people moderating the platform; they also have massive data sets and AI models to help 2. They are centralized. They can *delete* spammy accounts and there's no recourse. 3. X / Twitter got rid of most of their ops people, so you see *a lot* more spam on there. Additionally, #hashtags on Twitter have been spammy for 10 years. Just look at the following link: https://x.com/hashtag/Ethereum

1. AI already solving most. 2. A lot of the spam is from humans on mobile phones being spammy.

It's a decentralized, permissionless social network that is associated with crypto so you have a perception of EV+ to create "real" accounts for future benefit. Will exist no matter how much we try to say otherwise.

I meant, why aren't people obligated to put in the effort and cast something that's worth reading? It can be any topic, including crypto. Half the time, if not most, I see post that could have had potential but the caster's delivery was so sloppy it read like a spam. There has to be a role for AI here i.e. factcheck the cast > is it incorrect > downgrade from the feed otherwise upgrade on the feed. I think the key is learning, are the users learning from the cast on the feed? If they're not learning anything from what I'm reading, regardless of the topic, regardless of the format, it's a huge waste of time.
