The limiting factor for Farcaster’s growth is the supply of high-quality interesting / entertaining organic content. Most people who are focused on creating content optimize for networks with large existing audiences because while hard to break through, the upside is massive. Solve for X.

“Just pay content creators to post on Farcaster” Top content creators realize any direct payment will be small and short-term relative to compounding value of a large audience on an at-scale network. Monetization through distribution, eg launch a brand, angel investing, etc. So you run into an adverse selection problem. The people who are interested in getting paid by a sub-scale network vs. playing the game on hard mode.

The interface could create opportunities to highlight quality older content, to reduce the recency bias and give further incentive to invest in detailed and quality content creation here, despite the smaller audience than elsewhere.

devil's advocate: since content creators already build distribution via patreon/linktree/sponsorship, just having any "pseuodopodia" on farcaster means growth. the "organic" factor is consequential but not necessary for initial growth, and one could even argue that getting the 90% lurkers from one site would induce >1 organic reply & new dialogue. tbqh, there needs to be an ultra-sterile patronage client for traditional content creators.

can fc enable novel use cases for content creation? tiktok took off by not going after content creators with large audiences. it served a new category of short form content creators who were not served by other social networks.

Can something like an "endless runner" game run in a frame? Or are we still too early for this due to input latency issues, etc? Disclaimer - I'm not a dev, just a guy with some ideas.

In a /farhouse space with @0xt0ny and @pichi this past week Tony mentioned /tip-mob. A user-decided, collective gifting to an obscure creator makes a random event of high payoff with minimal individual investment. This may not scale but it sure would be fun.

I prefer to focus on a small network, but with the people I have interesting interactions with, rather than having a lot of followers and no meaningful interaction. Since I read the book "The square and the tower" by Ferguson, I personally try to build a strong small network first, the growth can come later. I follow people if I find the feed interesting, educational or funny.

One idea: cross posting top content from other platforms (with attribution) in monetized channels and then sending the creators a pro-rata share of the earnings based on engagement until some of them eventually switch to Farcaster as a default

I guess there would have to be a dynamic (imo there already is, but maybe make more noise about it) that would be of such difference within the use of Farcaster that it would make more and more people prefer to use it rather than the rest. So much so that it would catch the attention of the influencers in a way that they would judge to be a good idea to at least have a “copy paste” of their content from their original social media (where they have their main base of followers) into Farcaster, just in order to keep the base that has began to use it more and more, until it really becomes something that people have began to use more and more rather than the current options which would, in the long run, force the influencers to create Farcaster-first. Much easier said than done and I agree that I have not given any specific way of doing it, cause it’s really hard indeed. If it were easy, we wouldn’t be discussing this right now…

I’m not sure if this is helpful at all, but I use Farcaster as networking more than entertainment. I’ve met many smart people here. I’ve also made more money in my 4 months here than I ever have on social media in 10+ years. There’s a ton of potential to attract builders who never broke through in web2, but still want to pursue their interests as a job. Never thought I could make money from writing, but I have make a decent amount from web3 audiences. Happy to chat if my perspective is interesting

I'm not good at math so... I solve for "X" by NEVER GIVING UP! Eventually... I'll make... Then exceed "X" Which is why I left "X"... I love a challenge

I think one part of this is just showing users the right existing content, that they are interested in, more likely to engage with and respond to... something something flywheel ML based scoring and topic specific channels are towards that also think prompt writing like /words and /lounge are cool experiments to generate thoughtful content/discussion pairing that with incentives like /degen tipping and /bounties can provide a little spark to participate (but agree re: adverse selection on paid content)

New users aren't going to contribute high quality content if nobody can see it. Like right now I know I'm speaking to a brick wall because I don't have a power badge so you won't ever see this.

In addition to general interesting content - could also say *differentiated* content (that they wouldn't get elsewhere atm). Going back to farcon - "growing with crypto". Farcaster can reasonably be the place for all crypto-related conversation. eg. ~1600+ discord servers related to crypto that could migrate to channels here given some marginal incentives - https://discord.me/servers/tag/nft
