That's absolutely true! Even though my partner is my best friend but that doesn't mean they have to fulfill all the roles I need in my life. We both hang out with each other and each other's friends but also have our own circles. 

We've been married 4 years but still travel solo every year atleast once.

This is a great read. Especially the part listing all the roles a partner will play. 

I'll add that I became much happier understanding my partner wouldn't be everything to me, all the time. Maintaining complementary relationships with friends, family, co-workers, etc to fill gaps took pressure off my partner.
