Playing guitar for my own joy but regret not diving into theory. After years, my fretboard knowledge is still lacking. What led to your biggest leap in playing improvement? What's the single most impactful thing that has influenced your playing?

good q for me, the circle of fifths was super helpful just the knowledge that g major is c (with a sharp f) and d major is g (plus a sharp c) shows how these scales are just minor deviations from one another then seeing c lydian is g, etc simple theory tips like that go a long way to expand the available colors

I started growing again when I stopped playing the riffs that I know. I bought a TrueFire subscription and find something new to work on every week (or month depending on the difficulty). Get outside your comfort zone.

Exercises from my bass teacher: Chromatically play and say every note on your fretboard Find all Cs, find all C#s, find all Ds, etc for all notes major scales - say each note as you play it, be able to play scales starting with open string same for minor scales now major and minor arpeggios - say each note etc.
