Can someone explain channels to me? Is it dangerous to let a lot of people be a “member”?

Channels are gonna be further nerfed or maybe even deprecated is my bet. They’re already pretty low stakes. Do what you want, treat it as a species of hashtag with a hint of subreddit From a guy in the know: https://warpcast.com/slokh/0x7405e2f6

I'm using a channel to manage improvement proposals for https://lowercase.cards /lowercase is a public forum that helps improve the product I think channels are going to see a resurgence of use as pretty much every fc mini app will have one to handle user feedback and updates

- they work somewhat like subreddits. - they are probably best thought of as "topics". - only members can send top-level casts to a channel. - anyone can reply to casts in a channel. - casting in channels neither nerfs nor boosts you in the algo. - users can mute channels, so it's useful as a way to be cast prolifically and allow your followers to selectively turn down the volume on stuff they don't care about. - users can get notifications for all posts in a channel, allowing them to turn the volume up on what they DO care about. - mods/members can optionally send an "announcement" notification to channel followers whenever they "pin" a cast in the channel. and some more things. but i think that mostly covers it. like others will tell you, they're not a priority for the Warpcast team right now. i personally don't think they'll disappear, but their future is generally in question.

Channels are like group chats for topics. Letting lots of people join isn’t dangerous, but it can get noisy. Just depends on what you want!
