The goal is not rebuild the existing system onchain.

The goal is use the innovation available onchain to upgrade the existing system in every way. This includes accessibility, trust & safety, information parity, ease & convenience, and introducing emergent options and behaviors.

The problems real estate tech companies seek to solve are massive ones. Deeply entrenched parties, systems older than memory, painful processes slathered in risk for the end user.

Crypto is the first tool I’ve come across that’s up to the challenge.

Ethereum

People complaining about Ethereum fee revenue being down are missing the forest for the trees.

If Ethereum didn't scale - if blobs weren't introduced - then lots of activity that was on Ethereum would've moved to other layer 1's instead of layer 2's. This would've been a *much* worse outcome for Ethereum than losing fee revenue.

Yes, there is currently an imbalance between how much money rollups sequencers make and how much revenue Ethereum L1 collects from rollups, but this is imo a temporary phenomenon.

Ethereum is in its hyper-scaling phase and now has excess blockspace with not enough demand to fill it (yet).

If you believe in the decentralised future enabled by Ethereum like I do, then you believe that Ethereum is going to grow 1000x and more from here - this is what the focus should be on; not on how much rent Ethereum can extract from the small existing pool of users.

We’ve reassessed yearly whether ethereum is the right L1 for real estate onchain. And yearly we’ve come to the conclusion that it continues to be. It is still currently the best chain for onboarding the world’s most valuable assets, and this short term pain unlocks the potential for hyperscale needed to do so

We're a media company with a simple business model - subscriptions and sponsorships. 

We now run 70% of Bankless onchain and i actually love it. That's up from probably 20% when we started.

THINGS WE DO IN CRYPTO

Ethereum is our primary bank.

Safe is our bank vault - access controls, limits. I can't understate how much safe has improved over the past few years - 10x better than any bank interface.

Etherscan for bank statements - all our balances - all our transactions - I can't understate the value of etherscan - we've been DAUs since forever

Metamask, Rabby, Uniswap wallet as our checkbooks - our finance ppl use these to sign transactions from our vault or make payments

USDC for cash - we pay salaries, bills, and taxes in fiat so keep short-term treasury in stablecoins
