I follow /books and others in the channel not because I am some book worm, but because every time I see posts like this it reminds me how much more I could be reading, and how little I actually read. One of these days I'll read a book. A few more casts and who knows

I have a few in the queue. The more I add to it, the less likely im going to actually read them - Ive seen a ton of your book reviews/posts and one that stood out to me was "Enemy of All Mankind" thats added to my amazon list. I would be interesting in learning more about how you balance your offline bandwidth with your online presence. It seems like if you aren't terminally online for 3 hours you have missed something. Do you have a specific routine you stick to? or a personal commitment you've given yourself?

i’m an extremely online person and also have a two year old i start the morning by reading, and end the night with it as well (instead of TV) my daughter just went to sleep, i’ve been working all day, and my wife left to see friends. felt like a perfect time to read for awhile! i don’t think you need THAT much time set aside for reading

seeing as your reading taste seems well versed. Have you either heard of or read a book called IQ84 by Haruki Murakami?

It took me forever to get into it, but when I did get into it, I was glued, then I would hit very dull patches. made it through the first 2 sub-books but couldn't get through it - that said, I will take you up on a reco. Being in corporate america Ive read enough career related/self growth books. I am more interested in history, or fiction books to disconnect from the current world. - Ive read a couple o fDavid McCullough's books, my favorite being "Pioneers" it is basically an entire novel dedicated to the expansion of the NW territory, my hometown being at the forefront.

i’d highly recommend The Demon of Unrest by Erik Larson, and two books from John Williams: Augustus (already mentioned in other rec) and Butcher’s Crossing
