i get that and definitely feel it was overused (my notes app, for example, doesn't need a leather menu bar and ripped page effect)

…but i think in some contexts it helped create a sense of place!

These apps always reminded me of Myst (the books on a shelf from the game) and at some level of deeper programming I love it bc of that

VR/AR will bring a return of spatial interfaces

I have a feeling this type of skeuomorphism will come back into vogue, especially in web3 when you’re trying to represent really abstract concepts. We’re waiting for our “desktop” moment in crypto
