My wife put ours on a plastic protective sheet for an office chair. Makes cleanup so much easier!

Nothing like taking time out of your chaotic day to make sure your toddler gets a freshly prepared well balanced meal only to clean it off of the floor 30 minutes later after exactly 0% of went to his mouth
