we should call them memes not memecoins the coin part is just one distribution tool memes use to proliferate, alongside many other forms of creativity and experimentation

True, but the term memecoin can represent that too. Most memecoins aren't actually coins either nowadays. No need to change the taxonomy if people already understand.
