Picked up Sorcerer City after playing a game with a friend a few weeks ago. Game mechanics are deck building + tile placement, sort of like dominion meets carcassone. Fun game, would recommend if you're looking for something new to try over the break

I haven't played Sorcerer City, but I will say that Catan suffers from the robber mechanic. There are games where that social component (where you can be targeted) are less prevalent or impactful. I highly recommend both Terraforming Mars and Ark Nova. Some "attack" cards, but minimal. Just beautiful games.

Both those games are really good, but much steeper learning curve that intimidates people who don’t play as often
