England won 2:1. It's a familiar feeling in Dutch football. The team was eliminated in five of the six semifinals of the European Championship. Fans of the Netherlands know how to enjoy their trip to the Euros because they suspect how it will end, but this is another reason to enjoy the football holiday. England and the Netherlands are not so different. Both countries believe they invented modern football, and both believe their importance has not been rewarded at major tournaments. Each of them has one major trophy: the 1966 World Cup in England and the Dutch triumph at Euro 1988. Gareth Southgate's team continues to progress, while for the Netherlands the trip to Germany was one of the other great missed opportunities such as: Munich-1974, Buenos Aires-1978, Gothenburg-1992, Amsterdam-2000, Lisbon-2004, Johannesburg-2010, San- Paulo-2014.
