**Founder Archetypes: Jack Sparrow vs. James Bond** PG suggests using James Bond as an ideal prototype for startup co-founders. The emphasis is on being calm, resourceful, and effective in challenging circumstances rather than excelling in one specific area. While I appreciate this perspective, I find that James Bond may be an intimidating figure. He always triumphs with remarkable charm and style, akin to expecting everyone to be an exceptional dancer. Having recently watched *Pirates of the Caribbean*, I realized that Jack Sparrow serves as another compelling model for founders: - He confidently believes he can outmaneuver the established powers (like the British Empire), which he views as inflexible and outdated. - He maintains a light-hearted attitude even in life-threatening situations, as pirates are inherently accustomed to danger. - He acts quickly instead of hesitating, relying on his knack for extricating himself from tricky predicaments.
