We are at the stage with our daughter where all she wants is her mom and wants nothing to do with me for the most part. I know this is a stage, but it kind of my breaks my heart when she runs away from me when I want to give her a hug or hold her.

That’s tough. Just stay present and in her life. Tell her how much you love and care for her - every day. Thankfully she is only 15 months old, but we play all the time and read together. There are just certain parts of her day where she just wants her mom. I love being involved in her life as much as possible. It's crazy that dads weren't historically involved in their kids lives as much as they are nowadays outside of certain circumstances.

It’s one of the painful burdens that dads carried and old patriarchal society thrust upon them. β€œYou go make money. Woman will rear your offspring.” β€œYou do not show emotion or you’re weak and not worthy.” At least societal expectations are changing - at a glacial pace.
