What's your experience with web3 messaging (MailChain, XMTP, etc?)

Curious to hear any real-life benefits you've experienced as a result of these protocols.

Eg contacted NFT owner for a sale? Unified inbox simplified your workflows? Etc.

I did help some ppl in Iran onboard to Status during the Mahsa Amini protests, worked pretty well getting around their firewalls. However some functionality was broken due to Infura geoblocking on their ETH RPC.

In my experience, people want security theather like "disappearing messages" and/or things that are are to decentralize like video calls. Stuff like censorship resistance is less salient and marketable.

They switched over to Pocket Network which is basically a decentralized RPC registry. But the long term solution is Light Clients which is something Nimbus is working on already!

That's the big problem: making blockchain-based apps requires a public gateway. Is there an alternative?
