if their product is about culture, the branding is playful and the audience intersecting. most products don't need that. $degen learning is that identity coins work very well and finding the utility that can be easily integrated into social media apps was very creative

I wouldnt. Love memecoins. Dont think they help get pmf for us. Worse even, they might misguide us for long before we realise we optimised a product to become a meme amplification channel instead of a useful product outside of memecoin communities.

One thing to consider is that you are forever attaching the token price to your product. While it can def. work out in some cases, I feel like in many many cases where the token is not part of the core product it is vastly underestimated how much baggage you pick up by releasing a token.

paid marketing efforts don’t work against a crypto audience - one sure fire way to acquire a user base is to bootstrap it with early adopters speculating on an asset like a coin. Farcaster didn’t really breakout until a memecoin launched here, attracting an audience, which made it worthwhile for builders to stay.

memecoins could be just an instance Obama O's if it helps companies survive while they’re building something great it’s worth it but i think that represents 0.001% of cases

I think eventually, apps will need to choose which memecoin networks they work in. And if you support all of them, then lack of focus may be to your detriment.

From my experience long term, non-casino builders lack funding and visibility. And most suck at marketing. Leveraging the attention of memecoins provides a place to test tools in active communities rather than trying to build your own

Yes but used it for public goods like vitalik talked about Also interesting to look at JUP DEX (Solana) where they launched $wen before their actual token airdrop now they have a memecoin and a serious biz token. Very interesting

Def to consider more as a growth hacking to have more user and some visibility. A memecoin is easily visible on dex and X to have traction and can bring ppl to your main product. See it as a free tools that are build on top of SaaS on web2 business.

I don’t think FC users see it as a meme coin but good luck trying to explain the idea to non-crypto people. If you’re building long-term, I guess you’re looking at ‘the next billion’ so your marketing efforts should resonate much more with these (potential) users, whether it’s B2B or B2C.

Degen is a bit different imo and can be used as a tool to get things started. However, as fun as memecoins are I think it would be misguided to get caught in memes. If/when the meta changes from whatever meme you are using, you are just stuck with an upset community.
