He asked me in which ways web3 social can be:
Cheaper, Faster or Better than web2 social?

I had an answer that I thought was compelling, but his follow up questions were challenging.

Web3 social is about open composable-first protocols and not closed profit-first companies:) That allows parallel single-tribe networks built on these social protocols to proliferate, be more responsive to community unmet needs and custom hybrid business models :)

why can’t facebook tailor social connections as well as future web3 social?

do you expect the average consumer to be monetizing their social identity in a meaningful way in a way they can‘t in web2? how?

Because I am able to form deeper and more tailored social connections while also being less susceptible to censorship, and I am able to monetize my social identity through more permissionless tools.

it is very likely an average end user will not care.. a user with wallet might or crypto twitter might embrace it
