I think the Farcaster registration cost is the highest drop off stage of the funnel - most users don't have enough proof of value The highest leverage opportunity right now is figuring out how to increase the perceived value to the user before getting them to pay; other apps use the freemium model for this problem

Farcaster needs a similar free onboarding funnel to have a greater timeframe to convince users it's worth paying for. Without allowing for sybil or spam. Need ideas! Perhaps you could stake $7 to "light" invite a user, giving them a smaller amount of storage that expires sooner. If they spam, you get slashed.

One possible approach is a trial period or read-only version. The former is susceptible to bots tho, I like the latter a lot: lurking is free

when i left warpcast (for 4 days lol) and i would go to the homepage without an account, it was garbage… sorry @dwr.eth and @v. you can ask @greg and @zachterrell for the receipts but i said “this is going to stop everyone from signing up” because the content was not interesting nor compelling. recs:

Honestly i think the highest ROI action for merkle is to prominently link to warpcast.com from the landing page - the feed should speak for itself 🤷‍♂️ and if it doesn’t, that’s where investment should go. If they want to feel better about dominating alt clients they could link to a mini client store

- u3 caster daily is trying to increase perceived value by show casing the most interesting discussion at the time - u3 Guest Mode (Freemium for Farcaster) is onging so that user could experience farcaster before paying for an account

Reading through the reddit thread yesterday, I believe the biggest problem is people go to farcaster.xyz and there is no way to go from there to the feed. The most important improvement would be a single button, "read" or "browse" or "explore", that links to warpcast.com. cc @dwr.eth @v

I agree! I recently invited my dad and had to explain why there's a payment on a registration 😄 Another approach may be implementing an OAuth login with Twitter/Github/etc. At this point, it makes sense to pay for a person if he has enough stars/followers/etc.

A client that is subsidized through native token transactions and yet still offers the full Warpcast experience would be swell. Warpcast is a wallet without any wallet features. It's weird.

100% agree with this. I almost dropped off at this stage of the funnel. I can imagine most people would drop off here when they can just keep using twitter for free
