Long time coming, but going to properly shut down discove.xyz Jan 1st; any remaining users, export your data/feed algo code that you want to keep. It costs too much to run & maintain, given nr of custom feeds it caches and given its hosted on vercel. Might relaunch at some point/could open source if enough interest

I made discove to scratch my own itch. I wanted a way to be in total control of my social exp, down to what content appears or does not appear in my feed. Tired of degens? remove it. Interested in music? create or fork a feed of music shared. This was a bigger need before there were channels, ...

but I suspect we'll see similar solutions in the future. Maintaining infra that lets people write arbitrary SQL that then serves live feeds at scale is really hard (index + cache everything). Dune has it figured out, but their data isn't live, many queries aren't run until manually triggered by users every week or so
