nice write up. content coins are actually a new thing. zora is the first platform to adopt them. letting the market be the algorithm is very interesting. i don't think we're quite there yet, but on to something. incentives need to align. ask yourself, why do you want to buy an instagram post? answer: you don't. but if the proper flywheels were in place then maybe you would. right now there's no flywheel. you buy early and maybe you can sell for a higher price. thats the end of the cycle. but what if i'm buying content coins from the top creators on the internet and i keep earning fees on additional content they drop? starts getting more interesting. think about current incentive defi flywheels and add those to the social context. https://x.com/1CrypticPoet/status/1913293143262335416

> but what if i'm buying content coins from the top creators on the internet and i keep earning fees on additional content they drop? starts getting more interesting. - new content captured as 721, AND as a content coin - 721 represents the content coins fee stream, the holder receives the fees - users require a 721 OR minimum content coin holding (1 billion of one content coin, 1 million of every post etc) to access gated premium content and initial access to buy new content during a launch window. The creator can then earn with their 721s, or even sell the original content stream for supporters to earn as well.

I think beliefs.social was very spot on with tokenizing content, perhaps too early at the time but fizzled out. Without proper and long lasting attention, incentives die with them as well.

The whole system is made for short term. Holding a coin for longer brings the risk the content won’t be there anymore and doesn’t work. Had open mints on zora from a year ago , that don’t work anymore , because they changed to coins.

I think you’re onto something but this still begs this question. If everyone is buying the same content coins from top creators where is all the new liquidity coming from so we’re all not just recycling the same liquidity? Zero sum game, some will win, most will lose

Interesting take. Honestly, I feel there is so much things need to be explored or brainstormed that can really push this whole game to next 10-20 years fast forward. We are just getting started.

The missing piece might be downstream revenue. If content coin holders became true stakeholders, earning from future drops, collabs, or creator DAOs, the speculation would start to look more like investment in creativity

Probably buying content coins, then, with expectation of future content hits: content people actually WOULD want to collect. Or a connection to some other revenue source. This is why I think “collection coins” makes much more sense than “content” or “creator” coins. The creator gets to decide what basket of content this coin is defined by, and the economic incentives involved. And most creators or artist don’t want a “creator coin” that is supposed to represent them, in some abstract way.

is buying a content coin the same thing as buying a post though?

So still needs to be « art » because top artists create content to get viewed on Instagram for exemple, so content creation is anything they might post to get engagement etc… would you buy only top « content creation » then like if the artist you follow is also creative in the exécution of posts made for engagement like reels ?
