how does ethereum or bitcoin remain decentralized with post quantum cryptography?

if we need to re-sign everything and public key + signatures x20 in size... chains are doomed to be bigger and keep getting bigger w/ nodes needing more storage and bandwidth

My guess would be similar advances in compression, affordable storage density, and increased information bandwidth.

But also: moving lots of stuff off chain because it never needed to be on there in the first place.

mmmh you're probably right about moving more things offchain + state expiry 

as for significant hardware improvements by then im a bit less optimistic
