Crypto is a nightmare from an ethics standpoint — it’s filled with scammers, grifters, liars, opportunists, crony capitalists, etc.

It also doesn’t shy away from racism, misogyny, homophobia, classism, etc.

But Vitalik making a communism joke? That’s where we draw the line 😤

I think people are taking the joke more serious because of his position/influence. If this was any other random person does it really matter

Two thoughts:

- Plenty of other powerful / influential actors in this industry with much weaker ethics and more suspect statements 

- I think it’s less about position / influence and more about moral consistency. Ie. Crypto puts Vitalik on a pedestal and then punishes him for stepping down from it, even for a joke
